Position Summary:
This position acts as the chief academic officer, reporting to the Campus President. The chief academic officer is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and development of instructional policies, programs, personnel and facilities. This position is responsible for creating and sustaining an environment of academic and professional excellence for students and faculty and a collaborative working environment with educational team members. The Dean of Academic Affairs is also responsible for the financial performance of the Academic Affairs Department. As the chief academic officer, the Dean of Academic Affairs is responsible for reinforcing Schools academic leadership philosophy: providing quality educational delivery; balancing qualitative and quantitative performance, leading faculty and staff development and recognition, and creating a leadership and learning environment conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion.

Key Job Elements:

  • Provide leadership and vision for Academic Affairs department.
  • Achieve Academic Affairs and school/CS strategic objectives.
  • Manage key drivers in Academic Affairs.
  • Manage fiscal health of the Academic Affairs department.
  • Lead faculty and staff development.
  • Promote curriculum implementation and development.
  • Ensure compliance with system rules, state regulations, and accrediting criteria.
  • Build and sustain relationships within the community.


Organizational Relationships:

  • Reports to: Campus President
  • Collaborates with: Executive Committee,CS Academic Affairs
  • Other Functional Areas: Program Advisory Committees/Boards, Board of Trustees (where applicable)


Supervises:

  • Academic managers to include:
  • Academic Department Directors
  • Program Chairs
  • Academic Advisors
  • Director of Library
  • Administrative Personnel

Position Requirements:

1. Master's degree. Doctoral degree strongly desired.
2. At least 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in Academic Affairs, with considerable academic management experience, preferably in a proprietary school setting.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively as a member of a team.
5. Ability to interact successfully with academic as well as business and regulatory personnel.

Academic program development and implementation
Faculty assignments
Indirect: School Revenues, Financial Aid funds
SOX compliance
